Hong Kong BR Fee Increase Effective 1 April 2026

Hong Kong Budget Summary 2026-2027

We are writing to provide a timely update regarding the Business Registration (BR) fees in Hong Kong. It is important to note that a fee adjustment will take effect shortly due to the conclusion of a previous relief measure.

What is Changing?

The two-year exemption from the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Fund (PWIF) Levy is officially scheduled to expire on 31 March 2026.

During this exemption period, businesses benefited from a reduced annual BR fee. However, starting from 1 April 2026, the levy will once again be applicable to all business registration certificates. This means the total cost for your annual business registration will return to its standard rate (inclusive of the levy).

Please take a moment to review the details below.

  • 1-Year BR Certificate Registration Fee: HK$2,200 PWIF Levy: HK$150 → New Total: HK$2,350 (previously HK$2,200)
  • 3-Year BR Certificate Registration Fee: HK$5,720 PWIF Levy: HK$450 → New Total: HK$6,170 (previously HK$6,020)

This change applies to all businesses holding a Hong Kong Business Registration Certificate, including:

  • Limited companies (local and overseas)
  • Sole proprietorships and partnerships
  • Branch registrations
  • Any business whose BR certificate commences on or after 1 April 2026
